The University of Florida/IFAS Tropical Aquaculture Lab will be holding the next Fish Health Management Workshop on Tuesday, December 6 through Wednesday, December 7. Please see the attached flyer for details.
This two-day workshop includes lectures and hands-on wet labs in basic fish health management. A primary goal of the workshop will be to review important principles needed to keep fish healthy and appropriate responses to a disease outbreak, though many specific diseases and treatments will also be discussed. Lecture topics include: basic introduction to fish, fish biology, and fish physiology; introduction to fish health management principles; water quality; pathogens (parasites, bacteria, viruses, and fungi); treatments; and biosecurity. Hands-on wet labs include: water chemistry testing and analysis, fish anatomy and necropsy, and how to check for fish parasites. The workshop will focus on freshwater aquaculture production systems and fish; however, important marine diseases and treatments will also be discussed.
Cost is $100 per person. Space is extremely limited, and the workshop typically extremely quickly. Registration is required by November 29th.
